Cupressus macrocarpa, commonly known as Monterey Cypress, is a species of cypress that is is native to to the Central Coast of California. The native range of the species was confined to two small relict populations, at Cypress Point in Pebble Beach and at Point Lobos near Carmel, California. These two stands represent what was once a very large forest on the west coast. The living trees of these stands are as old as 2000 years.
The pendant is made of solid ancient bronze, an alloy of 90% copper and 10% tin, which slowly oxidizes to form a dark natural patina. Comes on a long 26" (67cm) gunmetal finish brass rolo chain, made with a non-reactive coating that won't come off or tarnish. Made with love in Northern California.
