This fully 3D earring set's design is based on the sixfold symmetry of the core pattern of the Flower of Life, which is also shown in the first steps of cells replicating to form a human being and other life forms! The Flower of Life is a name for a geometrical figure composed of multiple evenly-spaced, overlapping circles. This figure, used as a decorative motif since ancient times, forms a flower-like pattern with the symmetrical structure of a hexagon. In New Age thought, the Flower of Life has provided what is considered to be deep spiritual meaning and forms of enlightenment to those who have studied it as sacred geometry.
This design started life in AutoCAD, and was then 3D printed in a special type of castable acrylic resin using an advanced stereolithography 3D Printing process. The 3D Printed resin was then cast using a standard lost-wax casting process in our San Francisco Bay Area studio, using silver recycled from the Silicon Valley e-waste stream by a local refiner. The earrings were then hand finished, each 1.125" x 1" earring comes on a 25mm hand fabricated Sterling silver "endless" hoop, made of tubing and wire. Rotary tumbled for hardness and durability.
